The broken pentagram is used by black magicians to conjure up demons in order to control them for their selfish desires.

Masonic
 writer Manly P. Hall writes, in connection with the broken pentagram
that, in black magic, the pentagram may be broken at one point by not
permitting the converging lines to touch:
“The
 pentagram is used extensively in black magic, but when so used its form
 always differs in one of three ways: The star may be broken at one
point by not permitting the converging lines to touch; it may be
inverted by having one point down and two up; or it may be distorted by
having the points of varying lengths. When used in black magic, the
pentagram is called the “sign of the cloven hoof,” or the footprint of
the Devil.
The star with two points upward is also called the “Goat of
Mendes,” because the inverted star is the same shape as a goat’s head.
When the upright star turns and the upper point falls to the bottom, it
signifies the fall of the Morning Star.” (The Secret Teachings of All
Ages, p.104, Chapter: Ceremonial Magic and Sorcery)
WASHINGTON:
 Notice the CHURCHES logo that have these unfinished pentagrams.

 The pentagram has thus long been associated with the planet Venus, and
the worship of the goddess Venus, or her equivalent in early cultures.
Venus
 is also associated with the Roman word LUCIFER,- (SATAN, DEVIL), the
term used for Venus as the “Morning Star” or “DayStar”, which was known
as the bringer of light and knowledge.
The Morning Star – Day Star in Isaiah 14:12
The book of Isaiah has the following passage-
“How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, Son of Dawn!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who laid the nations low!
You said in your hart,
‘ I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne above the stars of God;
I will sit on the mount of assembly on the heights of Zaphon;
I will ascend to the top of the clouds,
Iwill make myself like the Most High’”
(Isaiah 14:12-14, NIV).
